The 9th Day of Chinese New Year is Ti Kong Seh in Hokkien (Jade emperor God’s birthday), also the 1st day of Hokkien New Year. At the stroke of midnight, prayers are performed with much gaiety with offerings of food, fruits, liquor and sugarcane stalks to the Jade Emperor God.
