Penang Food Festival 2018

Following the rapturous reception at the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS-breaking Penang International Food Festival 2018 (PIFF2018) in April, Penang will once again host a gargantuan, gastronomical gathering in the heart of the city. Taking place on 1 & 2 September 2018, the Penang Street Food Festival 2018 (PSFF2018) will showcase the very best of classic Penang street food, such as satay, char koay teow, and roti canai, as well as local modern favourites such as durian ice-cream and coconut milkshakes. For 2 days only, all your favourite street food delights will descend at the historical Lebuh Pantai for your eating pleasure.

Back by popular demand, PSFF2018 is the largest street food festival in Penang with over 120 food vendors participating from both Penang island, and mainland Penang. Highlight stalls include the decadent black sugar pao and world-famous laksa from Balik Pulau; the mainland favourites Nasi Kandar Pokok Ketapang and rojak; and available exclusively on Penang island, the gooey deliciousness that is sagor char from cecil market, and the tropical tasting Dangai Warisan Ibunda.

Additional PSFF2018 highlights include a lush pop-up garden on the street to reflect Penang’s strong stance on being a green state; breathtaking live performances by multi-talented buskers; and a spectacular firework display to cap off what will be a memorable PSFF2018. Food lovers will be able to simultaneously enjoy the countless options of street food available and take in the amazing array of entertainment whilst chilling in the BBQ corner, a beautifully decked out open space.

PSFF2018 will strongly demonstrate why Penang has been the recipient of countless culinary awards from internationally acclaimed publications such as CNN Travel (‘World’s 50 Best Foods’) and Culture Trip (‘15 Best Cities in The World For Food’).
So over the Merdeka weekend this year, come along with your family, friends, and appetites to PSFF2018 to have a Penang Cun (Gorgeous Penang) experience with all its glory, and to witness why food is an integral part of Penang life. In the words of Penang friend Anthony Bourdain, “Food is everything we are.”
